Prologue and Chapter One
I noticed a lot of symbolism in the opening chapter.
- James Nightshade: Night/black/dark/ shade = evil/something bad
- James Nightshade is thirteen years, eleven months, and twenty-three days: all odd numbers
- the boys are thirteen going on fourteen: the number 13
- Lightning rod salesman sells lightning rods that are covered in strange symbols and words from many different languages to ward off lightning: Could the lightning mean something bad?
- Will Halloway: his last name almost sounds like Halloween which is the month the novel begins
Anyone notice anything else or have thoughts on anything else in the chapter?
